Pune The board of directors of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), which met on Wednesday, did not take any decision on reducing the current bus fares. The board, however, has given indications of the fare coming down and said any concrete decision will be taken only after the union government further slashes fuel prices.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Praveensinh Pardeshi, who was present at the meeting told The Indian Express, "The Central Institute of Road Transport is studying the impact of bus fare on passengers. We don’t want to take an early decision. We will wait for fuel price slash by the central government. As soon as the union government takes a decision in this regard, we will announce our decision."

Vivek Velankar, president of PMP Pravasi Manch, however, expressed his unhappiness over this postponement.

According to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) director Ajit Apte, a decision was taken in the meeting to give allowances like tea allowance and overtime allowance to contract employees, as in the case of regular employees.
