Pune Residents of the State Transport Colony on Pune- Satara Road took to the street after a PMPML bus ran over an MSRTC employee, Kamlakar Nivrutti Bhosale (50), on Monday morning.

According to the police, Bhosale was not well and was going to a medical shop near Panchami hotel. While crossing the BRTS route near the hotel, a speeding PMPML bus (Upper Indira Nagar to Nigdi) knocked him down around 11.15 am. Bhosale died on the spot. The bus driver fled from the spot.

An angry mob at the spot pelted stones at the bus. A police team rushed to the spot for controlling the situation. Police sent Bhosale's body for postmortem at the Sassoon hospital. However, after the postmortem, the family members and neighbours kept his body on the road where he was killed in the accident.Residents of the colony blocked the road for sometime and later submitted a memorandum to the Swargate police demanding action against the PMPML driver. A huge police force was deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident. They also urged the police to take action against the speeding buses on BRTS route.

Meanwhile, the Swaragte police arrested the bus driver Prashant Gore (42), a resident of Dhayrigaon for reckless driving. The incident created a traffic jam in the Swargate area for a few hours.
