Police bust gang, one held with fake ghee

Patiala, January 11 Rajpura police today claimed to have busted a national-level gang involved in selling and making fake desi ghee. The police have arrested a member of the gang, the kingpin, however, is still at large.

According to Rajpura City Station House Officer Bikram Brar, they have arrested one Daljit Singh in the case. He added that the kingpin of the gang was one Surinder, a resident of Gwalior. “He prepares the ghee in Gwalior using ‘Dalda’ and some chemicals. This was revealed by the arrested accused during interrogation,” Brar told Newsline. The police have recovered more than 1,600 litres of fake ghee from the accused.

Meanwhile, the police are looking for another member of the gang identified as Chander who used to strike deals in Punjab to sell teh fake ghee. The police have registered an FIR under sections 420, 273, 274 of the IPC.
