Police recover kidnapped child, migrant arrested

Khanna In a swift action, the local police on Thursday arrested Pintoo, a migrant labourer, and recovered a six-year-old boy he had allegedly kidnapped on Tuesday near Doraha. Pintoom. The accused was about to leave the city for Jharkhand along with the child when he was apprehended by the police. A case has been registered and the boy, Tony Kumar has been handed over to his parents.

Tony Kumar parents reside in labourers’ quarters at B-Colony near Kaddo Chowk at Doraha. Tony Kumar’s father Pardeep Bharti, also a native of Jharkhand, told police, “My son went missing while he playing with other children in front of my house on Tuesday .” After Bharti failed to locate the child, he informed the police on Wednesday.

Payal DSP Anil Joshi told Newsline that as soon as they received the report of a missing child, police parties under supervision of SP (D) Gurmeet Singh swung into action.” “Two small girls, Pooja and Uma, who were playing with Tony at the time of incident told police that a man on cycle took away Tony. Different police parties were sent to various places where labourers were working,” said Joshi.

“We later leant that a child was seen with Pintoo, a youth working as a labourer at Sidhu Hospital,” said Joshi adding, “We raided the residence of Pintoo near military camp recovered Tony.” Pintoo had taken all his dues from contractor and was to about to leave the city along with the child when he was nabbed, said he.
