Moving a remand application, ACP Sanjeev Yadav of the Special Cell told the court that Mubin’s custody was required in order to “unearth the whole conspiracy behind the blasts, for which he will be taken to Pune, Mumbai and Bhatkal in Karnataka”. The police told the court that during investigations, Mubin had also disclosed that he “knew about the possible hideouts of Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal — the absconding plotters of the serial blasts”.

Mubin is also accused of assisting another accused — Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy — in carrying out the blasts at Karol Bagh. The Special Cell brought him from Mumbai on a transit remand on Saturday morning. He was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja. He was arrested along with two other accused, Asif Bashir Shaikh and Peerbhoy, by Mumbai Police last September.

The court, meanwhile, also extended the judicial custody of five suspected members of Indian Mujahideen, Mohammed Saif, Mohd Shakeel, Zia-Ur-Rehman, Saqib Nisar and Mohd Shakeel, till March 17. All five accused are in judicial custody in connection with the blasts at Karol Bagh, Greater Kailash and Barakhambha Road last September 13.

The court has also fixed March 17 for the consideration of an application moved by one of the accused, Zia-ur-Rehman, seeking copies of the call record details and compact discs containing images allegedly retrieved by the police from the cell phone recovered from one of the accused.
