New Delhi, March 2 The Delhi Police Control Room (PCR) gets three distress calls every minute. And the complaints range from managing stray cattle to neighbourhood fights to tensions over parking to serious crimes. Newsline takes a look at the complaints

* 1,57,442 persons dialled the PCR (100) between January 1 and February 15, 2008, out of which 3,327 criminal cases were registered and action taken in 1,425 cases under various special laws and Acts

* The PCR received 12,11,613 calls in 2007 against the 10,68,186 in 2006 and 9,65,635 in 2005

* 32,007 criminal cases were registered in 2007 based on PCR calls while 23,095 cases booked under special Acts. The corresponding figures for 2006 were 31,296 and 24,506, respectively

* 6,370 bogus calls were received in 2007 as against 8,771 in 2006. As many as 726 fake calls were made about loud speakers playing at odd hours during weddings and other functions.

* Towing figures from January 1 to February 15, 2008:

* A total of 16,364 illegally parked vehicles were towed away by the Delhi Traffic Police

* Trucks towed away from illegal parking lots stand at 68, tempos 1,590, buses 31, cars 10,892, two-wheelers 3,680, three-wheelers 74, others 29

* The police earned Rs 1.27 crore from towing fines alone

* A total of Rs 7.37 crore was received as towing charges in 2007 from 1,12,934 illegally parked vehicles.

* Figures for 2007: Trucks 629, tempos 10,290, buses 165, cars 76,518, two-wheelers 24,637, three-wheelers 536, others 171.

* The Delhi Police now plans to induct more trained personnel to operate the PCR in 2008 and to increase the number of 24-hour patrol vans from 338 to 500
