Polish, Greek students ‘moved by the uniqueness of Punjabi culture’

Ludhiana Impressed with the Punjabi style of living and hospitality, the international folk artistes and students from Poland and Greece said they would work on making people across the world aware of the multicultural society of Punjab and its traditions.

Nearly 38 international delegates, students, folk artistes, musicians, singers and organisers from Wieliszew (Poland) and Karditsa (Greece) had come on a 10-day visit to the state to participate in the Punjab International Folk Festival, organised by the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC).

A felicitation ceremony was organised by the PCPC on Wednesday evening. “The delegates visited the Golden Temple and explored village life during their 10-day stay in Punjab,” said Davinder Singh Chhina, festival director.

Anna Pruzskowska, translator of the Polish group, said she had become a fan of Punjab’s heritage.

Vice-President of Karagouna, Karditsa, Madam Patramani Pinelopi said: “I have 50 years experience of visiting cultures across the world, but have never been so moved by the affection, warmth and uniqueness of any other culture.”

Dr Dariusz Skrzydlewski, who is also the director of the Cultural Centre of Municipality, Wieliszew (Poland) called Punjab a historic land and promised to strengthen Polska-Punjabi friendship through festivals, meetings and educational interactions.
