Mohali Once again, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal targeted the Congress during his much-hyped Vikas Yatra and accused the main opposition party in Punjab of ‘all ills’ prevailing in the society.

In Kurali and Chamkaur Sahib on Friday, Badal said, “The Congress has completely eroded the dignity of the nation and failed to save the lives of hundreds of innocent people during the Mumbai terror attacks.”

Calling upon the people to decide which political party was suitable for the overall development of the country, the patron of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) said that the Congress party had been ruling the nation for over four decades but one-third of the country’s population was still earning Rs 20 per day, while 36 per cent were illiterate and 47 per cent were not malnourished.

Listing out the achievements of his government, the chief minister announced the setting up of a Forest Awareness park in Pallanpur village with a special attraction of a three-kilometre walking track for the public.  The total cost of this project is said to be Rs 85 lakh.

“A Rs 1.95 crore project to provide fresh drinking water in the villages of Morinda Assembly constituency has already been completed while Rs 3.99 crore more would be spent in the next phase of the project,” he added.

He also said that he would take up the issue of a railway underbridge in Kurali with the Union government.

The CM also presented cheques of Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore as developmental grants for Kurali and Nayagaon, respectively, besides Rs 5.26 crore for Chamkaur Sahib.

Punjab Cooperation Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh, CM’s Advisor D S Cheema, MLAs Ujjagar Singh Badali (Morinda) and Charanjeet Singh (Chamkaur Sahib) also spoke on the occasion.
