Solan CM Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the multi-crore Pandit Deen Dayal Kisan Samridhi Yojana Polyhouse project will boost production of off-season vegetables and floriculture.

He was addressing a public meeting at Kandaghat, after laying the foundation stone of the building of the Civil Hospital, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.44 crore.

He said the project will provide 80 per cent subsidy to the farmers, and 28,080 poly houses would be constructed. He added that water-efficient drip hand pumps, mini and micro irrigation projects have also been included under the project. Dhumal said Solan has emerged as the most progressive district in farming and his government has given top priority for the construction of link roads in this district. He said that tourism promotion activities would also be a given boost in the district.

The CM laid the foundation stones of the District Welfare Office, and the office of the district attorney. Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Rajeev Bindal criticised the previous government for ignoring the interests of farmers in the district. Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment minister said Rs 235.32 lakh would be spent for the construction of Kalyan Bhawan at Solan.
