Pooja to lead Chandigarh in national championship

Chandigarh, February 25 The Chandigarh Football Association has appointed Pooja of MCM DAV College, Sector 36 as captain of the Chandigarh team which will take part in the 16th Senior National Women Football Championship to be held at Haldia (West Bengal) from February 29 to March 17.

Announcing the team on Monday, CFA general secretary Rakesh Bakshi said RK Sharma and Kamal will accompany the team as manager and coach, respectively. The girls attended a coaching camp at Dev Samaj College ground in Sector 45. Chandigarh, along with Orissa and Mizoram have been clubbed in Cluster II for the preliminary league. They begin their campaign with a match against Orissa on February 29 and their next preliminary cluster encounter is against Mizoram on March 2.

The team: Pooja (captain), Sumandeep Kaur, Parminder Kaur, Harnoor, Rupinder Kaur, Punam Deol, Tanya, Punam Ghosai, Meena, Rekha, Simran Sardana, Anjana Dogran Priyanka Negi, Nikky, Sunita, Jaskiran, Renu and Kawaljeet.
