Posthumous Shaurya Chakra for DTC conductor

Delhi A bus conductor of the Delhi Transport Corporation will be posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra on Monday. The conductor Pritam Pal lost his life while trying to foil a robbery bid in February 2008. “In a bus that plies between Meerut and Delhi, a trader was carrying Rs 40 lakh in cash. When the bus was on its way to Delhi, some men got on board and tried to snatch the money from the trader. A police constable in the bus tried to intervene. Then one of the men placed a gun on the driver's head and asked him to reroute the bus,” R K Kasana, DTC PRO, said. “Pritam tried to snatch the gun from the man and was shot in the ensuing melee.” Pal lived in Kingsway Camp in New Delhi.
