Having studied under the founder of the technique, Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury, eight years ago, Khan now runs his own center in Avenue Louise in Brussels. He began practicing Bikram Yoga after he discovered that it helped him with his damaged knee. “Bikram Yoga is an exercise that is also good for the spine. Also as the room is heated to a temperature of about 36 degree Celsius, there is a lesser probability of injuries during stretching. The heat also warms the muscles and allows for a deeper workout in a short amount of time. The sweating also helps flush toxins from your body, giving you a wonderful glow from head to toe,” he says. Unlike regular yoga that is done for relaxation this is a more dynamic workout. Khan has taught the likes of Subrata Roy, Anupam Kher and the British Commissioner of the European Union, Peter Mandelson. Mandelson was one of the first to enroll with Khan when he opened his studio in Brussels and has also taught the Federal Department of the Police in Belgium.
The good news is that SAbhimanyu Sable, the founder of Abs who studied with Khan here in Pune and then later in LA, is planning to start a Bikram Yoga studio here in Pune in collaboration with Khan in a couple of months.
