Lucknow, March 6 An impressive 90-run knock by opener Pratyush Gupta and a four wicket haul by Nadeem Mehdi (4 for 25 in 8 overs) helped Lucknow Cricket Academy (LCA) in defeating Avadh Cricket Academy by 102 runs in their pre-quarterfinal match of the 5th CAL Trophy at Chowk Stadium here on Friday.

Brief Scores:
LCA: 214 for eight in 40 overs (Pratyush Gupta 90, Swatantra Misra 55, Meesam Hussain 22; Shitish 2 for 36, Azeem Anwar 2 for 59, Abhishek Srivastava 1 for 27);
Avadh Cricket Academy: 112 all out in 30.5 overs ( Naseer Hussain 26, Azeem Anwar 22, M Singh 21; Nadeem Mehdi 4 for 25, Raj Singh 2 for 10, Karan Tandon 2 for 24, Meesum Hussain 1 for 25, Ravinder Solanki 1 for 25).

THE All India Prize Money Men’s Volleyball Championship is being held under the auspices of Regional Sports Office, Varanasi at Varanasi. The duration of the tournament is from March 4 to 8.

Punjab Police defeated Indian Army 25-15, 24-26, 25-17, 21-24,17-15.

Avas Vikas Cricket
HELPED by a five wicket haul by MK Chakrawati (5 for 21 in 4.5 overs), Vrindavan Electric Circle defeated Circle IV, Kanpur by six wickets in their pre-quarterfinal match of the UP Avas Vikas Parishad Inter Circle cricket tournament at NR Stadium here on Thursday.

Circle IV, Kanpur: 77 all out in 18.5 overs ( Ajay Pal 15; MK Chakrawati 5 for 21,Radhey Shyam 2 for 15, Naveen Singh 2 for 18);
Vrindavan Electric Circle: 78 for four in 14.5 overs ( AK Mittal 16 not out, Rajesh Mishra 13 not out; Ajay Pal 1 for 22, Sudhir Kumar 1 for 25, Manoj Rao 1 for 15).
