“M Kaif, Suresh Raina, RP Singh and Piyush Chawla of Uttar Pradesh have already been purchased by various IPL franchises. Now Pravin Kumar will be playing for the Delhi team,” said Rajiv Shukla, the BCCI Vice-President and Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association.
The price-money for which Kumar will offer his services to the GMR-group owned team was not known but Shukla said many more upcoming players, including Tanmay Srivastava and Sudip Tyagi, from the state would also be involved in the tournament.
“The IPL would vastly benefit the Indian cricket as it has made it compulsory to play four Under-22 cricketers to provide opportunities to local talent,” he said.
