Kolkata The officials of the primary board have demanded security cover after the chairman of the board was beaten up by protesting students in Purulia on December 6. On Monday, the chairman of primary education board of Kolkata and adjoining districts condemned the incident and termed the act by the students as “barbaric”.

The representatives of the board asked for security of the primary educational council members till the process of recruitment of primary teachers is over. The officials of the board, who had to go through regular gheraos before the examination, claimed that so far after the initial hiccups the examination process was peaceful, but with the head of primary board of a district being heckled, the officials of other districts are feeling the heat.

As per the regulations of the school education department, the written examination for primary teachers in the state is being conducted. So far, the examination of 10 districts has been conducted and the rest will be completed by December 20.
