Award winning paintings and sculptures on show

A treat awaits art patrons at the State Lalit Kala Akademy (Lal Baradari) comprising prize winning entries by artists and sculptors from all over the state. After the distribution of prizes, the exhibition was inaugurated on Friday evening displaying some amazing work. ‘Stabdh’ by Sita Vishwakarma of Lucknow is a watercolour displaying the lifeless Parvati in the arms of an astounded Shiva, while ‘Pillow Talk’, sculpted in sandstone by Rajesh Pratap Singh, is remarkable for the wrinkles that make believe it is a pair of cushions that has just been leaned on...till you touch the hard material. ‘Householder’ in cement by Sandhya Singh of Lucknow is a figurine in a striking pose, while other artists and sculptors’ work such as ‘Akhandata’ by Ekta of Varanasi, ‘My Life’ Pragati Agrawal are notable too. The show is on till March 7 open from 11 am to 6 pm.
