Pune Four youths, including a minor, have been arrested for kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl from Balaji Nagar in Bhosari.

The police detained the four on Friday after the girl lodged a complaint with the Pimpri police station on Thursday. Meanwhile, the police are looking for three other suspects — Dnyaneshwar Tandale of Bhosari, Jitu Pujari of Alandi Markal and Nitin alias Makdya, aged between 18 and 22.

The girl is a student of Class VI at Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal School. Tandale knows the girl as they are neighbours. He wanted to marry the girl but when she turned down the proposal, he threatened to kill her parents, the police said.

On January 23, Tandale and his friend Nitin tried to meet the girl at her school. The two requested her schoolteacher to let her go home along with them as her sister was ill. The teacher turned down the request.

On February 7, Tandale and his friends abducted the girl in a jeep as she came out of school. They took her to a room arranged by Pujari in Markal village of Khed taluka and kept her there for three days. She was beaten up and raped by Tandale and others, said Prabhakar Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Patil said the girl somehow managed to flee and called up her mother from a PCO. “Her mother rushed to Markal village and brought her home. After hearing her daughter, she approached the police,” Patil said.

The suspects have been booked under Section 376 (a) of Indian Penal Code for gang rape along with other sections for kidnapping, cheating and assault.

Who Dunnit?? by msyed on 06 Apr 2009

Had this act been carried out in pakistan or by afghans or by muslims in general, the story would have read in newspapers as "Talebans / muslims (following islam) rape a minor girl". Now i wonder to which community these "civilzed" boys belonged to???. Needless to say stereotping of muslims and propaganda against islam is the hottest business in these times of economic recession.

Religions crime v/s secular crime by Anurag on 07 Apr 2009

Is there no limit to idiocy? The acts of Taliban or their supporters (like this msyed) are so highlighted because they do it in the name of their religion. They flogged a teenager recently in the name of Shariah, they have killed and tortured people there in the name of Islam. In this case, the guys did not do the crime in the name of religion. Can't you see this simple fact even with closed eyes???

Mr. M.S Syed the big diffence between this rape that was held in india or Pakistan or Taliban controlled area is, in India the accused would be sentenced to life imprisonment but in Muslim World according to Shariah law u need 4 witness for this rape and the girl would be killed to protect honour of the family. Thats the difference between this incident in india or other muslim run government
