Kolkata Around 50 members of little-known ‘Paramanu Bidyut Birodhi Prachar Andolan’ assembled at Esplanade on Friday to protest against the proposal to set up a nuclear power plant in Haripur. The protest was held to mark the anniversary of Hiroshima bombing.

“Setting up a few nuclear power plants is enough to destroy a poor country. The government is trying to dupe us by saying that setting up such plants will solve the problem of power shortage in the state,” said scientist Meher Engineer who took part in the protest.
