The 24-year-old law aspirant, along with a few friends, is bringing together bloggers and students from across the city to protest against lawlessness and crimes against women in the country. The group is planning to hold a rally and a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on the morning of February 14.
“The issue is not just about being able to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The issue is a larger one of lawlessness,” says Kotwani, sitting amid hordes of posters proclaiming the need to put an end to ‘goondaraj’.
Preparations for the protest are in full swing, with messages being passed around on the Net. “Girls are not cattle, stop locking us up”, “There are many defenders of religion, but who will defend the Constitution?” are among the many slogans abound in the online discussions on their blog: avalentineforindia.blogspot.com.
“We already have confirmation from about 60 people who will be attending along with their friends,” says Kotwani.
After the Mangalore attack on women, civilian anger at these political outfits are clearly seen on the blogosphere. The protest will be held from 11 am on Saturday at Jantar Mantar.
