PSB Badminton: Arvind cruises to title win, Trupti fights her way through

Pune Second-seeded Arvind Bhat of BPCL and Top seeded Trupti Murgunde of IOC lifted the men's and women's singles titles at the 29th PSPB Inter Unit Badminton Championships organised by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and played at the PYC Gymkhana Badminton courts on Sunday.In the men's Singles Finals second seeded Arvind Bhat of hosts BPCL scored a one sided 21-15,21-17 win over IOC's GuruSai Dutt , while Pune girl Trupti Murgunde of IOC) went through a harrowing time before scraping past team mate and fellow Puneite Gayatri Vartak 21-17, 18-21,22-20 to lift the women's singles crown.Rupesh Kumar and V .Biju of ONGC lifted the doubles crown edging past IOC pair of Jaseel Ismail and Marcos Bristow 17-21, 21-15, 21-14. B R Meenakshi and Aparna Balan of IOC) easily won the women's doubles event accounting for Ashwini Ponappa and Nitya Sosale of ONGC 21-16, 21-13.

Milind Ghate of hosts BPCL won a memorable double crown he put out team mate Pradeep Iyengar 21-10,21-9 to win the veteran's singles titles and then teaming up with Iyengar, he lifted the veterans doubles crown accounting for Sanjay Kumar and Tilak Raj ONGC 21-18,21-11.
