PSHRC asks for SSP’s report in murder case

Kapurthala, March 7 The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) has directed the SSP, Kapurthala, to provide the detailed report of a murder case of a young boy to the Commission before the next hearing in the case on March 17.

Copies of the Commission’s directions have been sent to the Principal Secretary, Home, and the police department.

Also, following appeals by family members of the victim, senior police authorities have shifted the investigation of the case from Kapurthala police to Hoshiarpur police.

Rajnish Vasudeva, father of deceased Himanshu Vasudeva (21), alleged that even after registering an FIR, the police did nothing and he had got investigation of the case shifted to Hoshiarpur police, where SP (Headquarter), DSP, Dasuya sub-division, and CIA staff, Hoshiarpur, will investigate the case.

He alleged that Himashu was murdered at his in-laws’ house on December 28 last year. He said Himanshu had gone to stay for a night, but never returned, also claiming that as per medical reports, he was tortured badly, which led to his death.

When the case got media attention, PSHRC took suo moto action and a full bench of four members of the Commission considered the case.
