The state government had issued an advertisement in 2006 for filling up 32,000 posts of primary teachers. The regional employment exchanges had forwarded the list of candidates to the Primary School Council of concerned districts. The candidates who had passed secondary examination and secured diploma in primary teachers training were eligible for the posts.
Cancelling the earlier selection process, the state government had issued another notification on August 30, 2009 for appointing 56,000 primary teachers across the state through the primary school councils of concerned districts. According to the notification of 2009, candidates who had passed only secondary examination were eligible for the posts.
Today Justice Dipankar Dutta held that the selection process adopted in 2006 for appointing 32,000 primary teachers would be completed separately. The selection process initiated in 2009 will be completed in a separate manner, he said.
