The BBA students complained that the question paper of financial accounting was completely out of syllabus as all the questions were related to cost accounting.

Following the students’ complaint, the PTU-affiliated colleges in the city wrote to the university on behalf of the students and asked the university to re-schedule the examination.

Expressing concern over the outcome of taking a ‘wrong’ examination, the students from institutes including Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology and Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology said the paper handed over to them was of another subject.

“The question paper that the students received had questions on cost accounting while they were to take the financial accounting examination scheduled for today. Even though the students are believed to have attempted the paper well, it is because of the fact that they have studied the topics in the third semester,” said Sanmeet Pal Kaur, a teacher of financial accounting at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology.

Students said they could attempt the exam because they had studied the topics of cost accounting in the third semester but it was still a major mistake on the part of the university. “The whole paper was out of syllabus, in fact, out of subject. The university should now give us grace marks accordingly. Though re-scheduling the exam can also be done but that would mean extra time and energy on our part,” said a student.
