PU Campus cagers pocket championship

Chandigarh, February 25 Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, Chandigarh, annexed the Panjab University Inter-College Badminton ‘B’ Division (women) Championship outplaying MBBGRGC Girls College of Mansowal 2-1 at the Panjab University Gymnasium here today.

In the opening singles match Manjula drubbed Baljinder Kaur 24-22, 19-21, 21-19. The Mansowal College's Baljinder and Parneet got the better of Dev Samaj duo of Manjula and Sonia 16-21, 21-18, 21-6 to take the lead. Tanya of Dev Samaj beat Parneet 21-18, 21-16 to win the title. Meanwhile, Department of Evening Studies, Panjab University, pocketed the PU Basketball title for men (evening and educational) Championship by beating GHG Khalsa College of Education, Gurusar Sadhar 28-8 in the final.

Arun (14), Om Bahadur (6) and Gansham (6) repeatedly pierced their rival defence to sink baskets. Sukhraj (6) and Jagmeet (2) reduced the margin for Gurusar Sadhar College.
