Chandigarh With Panjab University officials failing to provide any relief in the recent ‘fee hike’ matter, the students on the campus have been left fuming.

About a month ago, the authorities had sent circulars to all its departments informing them about a hike in the fee. Accordingly, students deposited the revised fee.

It was only after a few students raised an objection stating that the university cannot increase the fee without a formal intimation that the ‘miscommunication’ came to light. PU officials admitted that it was a ‘miscommunication’ and a committee was formed to review the matter. The committee, however, has not been able to draw a concrete conclusion leaving the students high and dry.

Talking to Newsline, a student Amit said, “We have already submitted our examination fee and no one has told us about any refund.”

Similarly, other departments including the Law department received the ‘wrong’ circulars but the students are yet to be informed of the fee refund.

The miscommunication is said to have cropped up between officials of the Examination branch, who had dispatched the circulars to the departments. Dean Students Welfare Professor Naval Kishore said, “A committee has been formed and the entire working would be done as per the rules. We are reviewing the matter and fresh communications would soon be made to different departments.”
