Punarjot Eye Bank holds seminar on India’s future

Ludhiana, February 25 Punarjot Eye Bank Society, headed by Dr Ramesh, organised a seminar under the banner, ‘Let’s make future India healthy and wealthy’ on February 24 at DAV Public School, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, regarding awareness of diabetes among people.

The seminar started at 3 pm and continued till about 5 pm. Various eminent doctors and professors of the city were present at the seminar.

They expressed their views regarding the complications, treatment, diagnosis and other aspects of diabetes. There was a special free blood glucose test performed by the laboratory personnel from 2 to 3 pm. A diabetes awareness play was performed by the staff of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), on the dreadful outcomes of diabetes and the need for regular checkup.

The seminar included the speeches by eminent doctors of the city. Dr Tarandeep Bajaj gave a general introduction on diabetes. Dr Ramanvir Singh spoke about diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. The role of investigations in diabetes was taught by Dr Haramrit Kaur.

Dr Ramesh spoke about irreversible blindness in diabetes, the recent advances in diabetes and its management. Dr Parminder Singh and B S Aulakh spoke about urological complications in diabetes.

There was an interactive question-answer session by the delegates and doctors. The seminar took place in the DAV School auditorium. Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria was the chief guest on the occasion. There was a lucky draw, and a bicycle was gifted to the winner.

The doctors advised the people to go in for regular check-ups to ensure that they did not have any major health problem. People with a family history of the ailment were especially advised to be careful about any health problem.
