Pune FC enjoyed majority of possession for most of the game. They had the better of the exchanges in the first half and created many chances to score. They had a number of opportunities to take the lead but failed to do so. Their centre back pairing of Kamal Thapa and Chika remained stubborn and did not let a single ball go past them. The half ended 0-0. In the second half, the city's premier football club was looking more dangerous than they did in the first half. They created chance after chance and were finally rewarded when Gobin Sevaram scored a controversial goal to give his team the lead. Gobin's shot from close range rattled the post bounced once inside the goal line and then made its way outside the goal. The assistant referee was quick to spot this and he raised his flag indicating a goal. The referee pointed to centre spot much to the protest of the Bank of India players, who halted play in protest. Play then resumed in 10 minutes time and it was during this time that Pune FC had their best spell of play. Gobin Sevaram extended his team's lead by scoring a headed goal. Godson Okinawa was then rewarded for his perseverance by scoring his team's third goal. He drove into the box beat the keeper and slotted the ball into the net.
