Punjab and Haryana High Court lift trophy

A Splendid all-round performance by Sandeep Moudgil (46 not out and 2 for 25) and valuable unbeaten 39 by Premjeet Singh Hundal enabled Punjab and Haryana High Court to lift the All-India Inter-High Court Advocates Cricket Championship defeating Madhya Pradesh by seven wickets played in Mysore today, according to information received here.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh skipper Sanjay Tiwari won the toss and decided to bat in a 30 overs final match. Hemant Bassi scalped Raghunandan on the last delivery of the opening over as he got him caught by Navdeep Singh at mid-off while the batsman was trying to play over the infield 30 yards circle.

From the other end Harit Sharma with his sheer pace uprooted middle stump of Digesh and Madhya Pradesh were reeling at 3 for 2 after first two overs. Thereafter Punjab and Haryana High Court tightened up the things and reduced Madhya Pradesh 65 for 6 at the first drink break after 15 overs.

Harit Sharma was instrumental in claiming 3 wickets for 18 runs. Captain Sandeep Moudgil captured 2 for 25. After completion of spell from medium pacers, M.P. batsmen sighed relief on introduction dual spin attack and Deepak Tiwari (49) and Sanjay Tiwari (25) steadied the sinking ship before Sanjeev Trikha (3 for 25) polished of the tail. MP were bundled out for 158.

In reply Punjab & Haryana too lost opener Vineet Soni cheaply and S.S. Sidhu also could not stay for long. Amit was the bowler for Madhya Pradesh to give initial hic-ups who accounted for both the wickets for 23 runs. At this stage scoreboard read 17 for 2 after 4 overs. Sanjeev Trikha and Premjeet Singh Hundal resisted the aggression for a while and kept the scoreboard ticking. Both were involved in a 58-run partnership before Trikha perished to a flighted delivery from Sanjay while attempting to clear the long on fence. The scoreboard read 75 for 3. At this stage Sandeep Moudgil and Premjeet Singh Hundal took charge of the proceedings. They were associated in an unbeaten 84-run partnership. Sandeep Moudgil was declared Man of the Match whereas Premjeet Singh Hundal received Man of the Series award. Raghunandan of Andhra Pradesh High Court got the best bowler's award and Sanjeev Trikha bagged the best all-rounder award.

Madhya Pradesh High Court: 158 all out in 30 overs (Deepak Tiwari 49, Sanjay 25, Harit Sharma 3 for 25, Sandeep Moudgil 2 for 25, Sanjeev Trikha 3 for 25).

Punjab & Haryana High Court: 159 for 3 in 26.5 overs (Sanjeev Trikha 36, P.S. Hundal 39 n.o. Sandeep Moudgil 46 n.o., Amit 2 for 23).
