Speaking to the cadets on the occasion reviewing officer for the event General (retd) S F Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab, said, “To combat terrorism and uproot it, we have to work in unison. Nothing can be achieved in isolation. It is imperative that the premier organisations, fighting terror in the country, should work in partnership with each other.”
Rodrigues said, “The National Defence Academy is the cradle where the best officers, be it the army, navy or the air force, are moulded and shaped. The cadets who pass out from here are balanced individuals who know to lead from the front.”
He observed that the institute has undergone many changes and has only refined with the passage of time. The structure looks better and economically backward cadets get more financial support. The alumni also is actively involved in helping these cadets.
Meanwhile, for the graduating cadets, this is an emotional event. “It’s like leaving a part of us behind. Though most of my batch mates are in the army and they will join me at IMA, I will miss my friends from the other two wings (air force and navy). This is a proud yet sad moment. We owe a lot to this place and all that lies ahead for us will have its roots right here,” said a cadet.
