He elaborated on the ongoing projects —the 1980 MW thermal power project costing to Rs 10,000 crore at Talwandi Sabo and the 500 MW project at Gowindwal Sahib— and also spoke about the thermal plant at Rajpura work on which would be started shortly.

The Chief Minister also claimed that the Sangat Darshan Programmes were proving very helpful in solving varied public issues on the spot and sanctioning of required development projects were bring done after direct discussion with people of the area. He said his government had chalked out a comprehensive plan for development in both urban and rural areas. With the government releasing funds worth Rs 350 crore for all municipal or nagar councils, he claimed that in the next three years, basic amenities would be provided to the entire urban population. Badal also said the government was laying major stress on strengthening the state’s infrastructure facilities to boost fast industrialisation and heavy investment.

The Chief Minister assured that special camps will be organised by departments of Food and Supply and Social Security to issue yellow cards, prepare ration cards and fill up pension applications of beneficiaries in every district. Grants amounting to Rs 78.35 crore have been released in the SDPs for different development works, including roads, water supply, sewerage projects, street lights, parks and community centres in six wards of the Municipal Corporation, said the CM. At the Urban Estate in Dugri road, Badal sanctioned grants of Rs 19.72 crore for projects in ward number 68, Rs 5.70 crore in ward number 65 and of Rs 4.98 crore in ward number 67.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a bridge to be constructed at the cost of Rs 1.50 crore at Sidhwan Canal near Dugri.
