Punjabi University V-C proposes new professional courses in campus

Patiala, January 31 The Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor, Jaspal Singh, today proposed introduction of new job-oriented professional courses in the campus that could help students to find early placements.

The vice-chancellor was presiding over a meeting of the Academic Council of the university when he made the proposal. He said that such courses would either be introduced on the university campus or centres and colleges affiliated to the university.

He added that the courses could either be full time, add-on or short term in nature.

Singh also called upon the Journalism Department of the university to make its place among best media centres of the country. He assured full support to provide every kind of help to strengthen its infrastructure base.

Talking about research work, he said that it should be utilitarian in nature, catering to the needs of the society, with its benefits reaching to the grassroot level.

The vice-chancellor suggested to device a mechanism to reduce the occurrence of cases pertaining to late admissions and granting relaxation in lectures to students of the university and its affiliated colleges.
