Pune, February 5 The Pune University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has demanded a CID enquiry into the recent irregularities found in the engineering exams. PUTA has also raised objections over the appointment of Prakash Wani as the dean of engineering faculty.

In last four days, there were two instances which came to light regarding the irregularities in engineering question papers. In the first year applied science paper, same questions appeared in the internal examination paper of one of the colleges. When this was brought to the light, the University of Pune set up an enquiry committee to look into the matter.

“The head of the committee Parakash Wani is on the governing council of the college where the applied science paper was leaked. So, how can the enquiry be transperant?” said Atul Bagul, president of PUTA at a press conference on Tuesday. “Moreover, the appointment of Wani is also illegal. He is not qualified to teach at the post- graduate level which is necessary for the post of dean. Actually, he should be held responsible for the irregularities in the engineering exams. But instead of that, he has been made head of the enquiry committee,” he said.
