Youngster Rahane slammed seven sixes and 17 fours in 187 off 142 balls while the experienced Muzumdar played perfect foil with an unbeaten 101 off just 70 balls with the help of four sixes and seven fours as Mumbai piled up a huge total of 398 for three. The third wicket duo also put on 104 runs.
In reply, hosts Maharashtra were shot out for a paltry 182 in 28.1 overs with the medium-paced trio of Dhaval Kulkarni, Ajit Agarkar and Usman Malvi sharing seven wickets.
The victory boosted Mumbai to the top of the table with 14 points while Maharashtra trailed in joint second in the five-team league with seven points, along with Gujarat and Baroda.
In another league tie at the Deccan Gymkhana ground, Saurashtra defeated Baroda by six wickets.
Jaydev Shah made 101 in 98 balls (12 fours and two sixes) to guide Saurashtra to their first win.
Ketan Panchal scored 102 off 101 balls with 10 fours for Baroda which went in vain as Saurashtra overtook the total of 241 of Baroda with more than ten overs to spare.
