Ahmedabad Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will once again come to Gujarat on February 22 and 23, said party sources.

He had earlier visited Vadodara, Surat, Godhra and Dahod. This time, he will be visiting Kutch, Saurasthra and north Gujarat — places where the Congress has traditionally been weak.

He will also interact with women involved in handicrafts in Bhujodi village in the interior of Kutch district on February 22. The handicrafts by Bhujodi villagers as also from other areas of Kutch are well-known in the country, but they have been facing problems of late.

He will also meet the Youth Congress workers and leaders of nearby villages and interact with them on the issue of membership drive, which will conclude on February 28 in the state. This will be followed by elections of the state Youth Congress office-bearers in the first week of March.

Sources said Rahul has made it clear that nobody above 35 years will be allowed to remain in the Youth Congress. He had recently ordered the removal of the Bihar Youth Congress president for being overage.

After Bhujodi village, Rahul will drive to Rajkot where he will interact with delegates at a state-level girls' convention in Rajkot. He will also visit a membership booth. The same day, he will visit Patan and address a state-level Scheduled Caste youth convention. Revenue Minister Anandiben Patel had recently faced a large scale protest against the gang rape of a Dalit student at a primary teachers training institute in Patan.

He will subsequently visit Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district to interact with farmers.

On February 23, he will begin with a trip to Gandhinagar to visit a membership drive booth and meet the local Youth Congress workers. In Ahmedabad, he will meet young professionals like doctors, engineers, architects, chartered accountants, and IIM students.
