Rahul shines in Majumdar final

Lucknow All-round efforts by Rahul Sachan (5 for 20; 74 not out) were the highlights of the match as his team—Mega Trends Cricket Club defeated Panther Cricket Club (PCA) by five wickets in the final of the 1st Shivesh Ranjan Majumdar Memorial Cricket Tournament at Pt. RB Tiwari Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday.

Manmohan Tiwari, manager DAV College, gave away the prizes to the winners.

Sachin Srivastava (PCA) was adjudged ‘Best Batsman’, Navin Agnihotri (Armaan Academy) was declared ‘Best Bowler’ while Rahul Sachan (Mega Trends) was adjudged ‘Best Allrounder’.

Brief Scores: Panther Cricket Academy: 149 all out in 39.4 overs ( Yogesh Mishra 48, Hari Om Chowdhary 33, Sachin Srivastava 25, Sumit Gupta 14; Rahul Sachan 5 for 20, Jitendra Dixit 2 for 23, Mohsin Raza 1 for 26, Shahbaz Khan 1 for 27, Pawan Yadav 1 for 28);

Mega Trends Cricket Club: 151 for five in 39.4 overs ( Rahul Sachan 74 not out, Mohsin Raza 24 not out, Prashant Singh 10; Abhas Vohra 2 for 21, Sachin Srivastava 2 for 25, Abhas Vohra 2 for 21).

Women’s cricket
Cal ‘Blue’ defeated CAL ‘Red’ by 83 runs in the all-important match of the CAL Triangular Women’s Cricket Tournament at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday.

Brief Scores: CAL ‘Blue’: 147 all out ( Bhawana Tomer 56, Shweta Singh 25, Aproova Bhardwaj 20; Nishu Chowdhary 3 for 24, Ekta Bisht 2 for 12);

CAL ‘Red’: 64 all out in 20.4 overs ( Komal Hora 16, Tanuja Gupta 10; Parul Chowdhary 3 for 9, Aproova Bhardwaj 3 for 20).

Malik selected
Veteran cueist, Ishtmit Singh Malik of Lucknow has been selected as one of the referees to officiate in the ONGC sponsored International Billiards & Snooker Federation’s World snooker championship scheduled to be held at Hyderabad from November 14 to 25. As per a press release from UP Billiards and Snooker Association (UPBSA), Malik, who is a Grade I referee, has already officiated in the World billiards championship last year.
