Rail Safety Commissioner begins probe

Kolkata Commissioner of Railway Safety Sudarshan Nayak, who works under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has begun probe into the derailment of Howrah-Kurla Jnaneswari Express. Nayak visited the accident site near Sardiha on Tuesday and met top officials of the Railways. So far, the commissioner has spoken to 50 railways officials, including the driver and guards of Jnaneswari Express and the goods train. Nayak also spoke to station masters of various stations in the Kharagpur-Jhargram stretch. The commission will also look into the rescue operation carried out by the railways and find whether if there were any lapses in the process.
