Accompanied by his staff members, Parmar took statements of the Surat Railway Station Master and the officials of Udhna Railway Station.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police B S Jebaliya said they were facing difficulties in identifying those killed in the incident. He said nobody came to claim the unidentified bodies at SMIMER Hospital even after two days of the accident.
"We have formed different teams and they will visit Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, and will take help from the Railway officials in the identification of the rest of the bodies. The bodies will be kept in the cold storage room for four days," Jebaliya added.
He further said they are yet to record the statements of Kutch Express train driver A K Sharma and assistant driver Arun Kumar. Both have been suspended from the job for showing carelessness. "After getting their statements we will decide and take further legal steps against them," he said.
On Thursday, only seven bodies were identified. The deceased included two women and three children. They were hit by the train, coming from Mumbai, on the Kakrakhadi Railway Bridge between Udhna and Surat Railway Stations. The police said they were walking on the railway tracks, as they were apparently unaware that a train was coming on the same track.
