“With the APIK software, we can very accurately trace the faces of the miscreants based on the description given by victims. It takes two to three hours to draw the face,” said ER’s Chief Security Commissioner S C Sahu.
Nearly 10 miscreants, involved in drugging of passengers, have already been identified and apprehended with the help of the kit since its introduction four months ago, he added. Stating that six RPF personnel were being trained to use the APIK, Sahu said: “We have selected them on the basis of their artistic skills and knowledge of computers.” Asked about the steps being taken to prevent frequent dacoities in trains, Sahu said such incidents were taking place mainly at the Jasidih-Jhajha-Kiul stretch of the Eastern and East Central Railway zones.
