‘Rain water harvesting can check fluorosis’

Ludhiana, March 8 The fifth PG Convention of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) which was organised by the Christian Dental College, concluded today.

The final day of the event unfolded with a scientific programme designed to emphasise the theme of the convention: guiding metamorphosis. Dr Samir Dutta, professor and HOD, Department of Pedodontia, GDC Rohtak, spoke on the importance of rain water harvesting in controlling the most common endemic disease in India -Fluorosis. Dr Nikhil Shrivastava, professor, DAV Dental College, Yamunanagar, stressed on repetitive strain injuries common in dental professionals.

Dr John Clark, lead clinician, CleftSiS from Scotland, discussed about evidence-based dental practice. Also held was a lecture on growth modification by Dr Navneet Grewal (Professor and HOD, Department of Pedodontics, Government Dental College, Amritsar), who spoke eloquently on the topic.

Bapuji Dental College from Davangeeri, Karnataka, were adjudged the winners of the second ISPPD Quiz Competition. At the closing ceremony, Dr Abi M Thomas, principal, Christian Dental College, Ludhiana stressed the importance of not only continuing education in one’s speciality but also to develop better skills and attitudes towards patient care.
