Rakshak Sports Club edged past opponents Shiloh Sports Club 3-2 in what was a fascinating encounter. Rakshak started well with Gaurav Kamble opening the scoring in the seventh minute. Kamble received a good pass from Amar Kharade and gave his team a vital lead. Shiloh Sports Club hit back hard and equalized in the 21st minute through Francis Minz. Minz scored off a pass from teammate Rajiv Minz. The half ended 1-1. The second half saw both teams attacking the opposition goal with equal intensity. It was Shiloh who found the net first Rajiv Minz scoring off a pass from Francis Minz. Their happiness, however, was short lived as Rakshak found the equalizer in the very next minute. Amar Kharade managed to convert a penalty corner to level the scores. Rakshak were playing with a lot of confidence at this stage and rewarded for their pressure when Sunil Joshi scored the winner in the dying minutes of the half.
Soon after, the referee blew his final whistle and the match ended 3-2 in favour of Rakshak. In another match that took place, Pune City Police made mincemeat of their opponents Friends Union after they beat them 4-1. Datta Shinde (2), Prakash Sakpal and Vinod Nimbore scored for the winners while Prashant Salunkhe scored for the losing team.
