Chandigarh, January 2 The members of Chandigarh Industrial Area Tenants Association held a rally in support of the demand of rehabilitation of tenants of Industrial Area I & II today.

The rally, which started at Kali Bari Mandir, Ram Darbar, was supposed to go to Sector 17 after passing through the Industrial Area, before handing over a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commission at his office. But it was not allowed to enter Sector 17 despite having taken permission from the concerned authorities. The reason cited for this was that it would create traffic hazard and inconvenience to the commuters. The Association was left with no option but to confine the rally within the Industrial Area.

Later, they handed over the memorandum to the Director of Industries, Chandigarh. Since the Deputy Commissioner was absent, it was then given to the SDM south, who assured that necessary action would be taken. The memorandum will be forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner also.
