Pune Rameez Torgal found the net four times in the space of five minutes before leading his team Metro ‘B’ to a 5-2 victory against Super XI in the late Pravin Gaikwad hockey tournament being held at the Ammunition Factory hockey ground, Khadki, on Tuesday.

Super XI started the game well and scored the opening goal in the eighth minute through Uday Baramatikar after he was set up well by Satish Borade. Metro recovered quickly and equalised two minutes later through Abhijeet Kadam. Kadam received a good pass from Kunal Pawar, which he converted with ease.

Super XI took the lead yet again in the 14th minute after Baramatikar scored his second of the game. He was set up by Prashant Bhokare. This goal gave them confidence and they maintained their lead till halftime. The half ended 2-1.

The Super XI players were playing some good hockey in the opening ten minutes of the second half. But a one-goal cushion was always going to be a slender lead and it did not last long. The game changed dramatically in the next five minutes thanks to an outstanding effort from Torgal.

He scored four goals in the next five minutes and wrapped the game up for his team. The goals came at just the right time and left no time for Super XI to stage a comeback. The match ended 5-2.

In the second match of the day, Rovers Academy ‘A’ edged past Kids XI 1-0. Shabbir Shaikh scored the solitary goal for Rovers Academy in the 24th minute. He converted a penalty corner taken by Mahendra Chaudhari. The Rovers defence remained stubborn and stopped most of the Kids XI attacks on their way to keeping a clean sheet. The match ended 1-0. Green Meadows were given a walkover by PCMC XI.

Results:
Metro ‘B’ 5 (Abhijeet Kadam, Rameez Torgal 4) bt Super XI 2 (Uday
Baramatikar 2); Rover’s Academy ‘A’ 1 (Shabbir Shaikh) bt Kids XI 0.

Today’s fixtures:
1:30 pm: Metro ‘A’ v/s Goodwill SC
2:45 pm: Shiloh SC v/s Friends Union
4 pm: Rakshak SC v/s SRPF
