Lucknow The relatives of a Class VI student of Naveen Montessori Inter College have alleged that the nephew of the college manager attempted to rape the girl on Saturday.

The girl’s father lodged an FIR under Section 354 of the IPC (attempt to outrage modesty) against Montu (21), a resident of Barabanki, at the Krishna Nagar police station.

According to the complainant, “On Saturday morning, when the girl was alone in the classroom, Montu came and locked the room from inside. When he tried to misbehave with her, she screamed for help. After hearing her cries, staff members rushed to the room and opened the door. The college staff sent her home with two teachers.”

After reaching home, the girl informed her relatives about the incident. Subsequently, angry relatives and neighbours rushed to the college located in Krishna Nagar and ransacked its premises, damaging the furniture. They tore the official documents in the college office and blocked the road for two hours.

“When we reached the college, the accused had fled,” said K P Singh, Inspector, Krishna Nagar police station. “We are conducting raids to trace Montu, who had been staying at college manager Mainavati’s house for over two years,” said Circle Officer, Alambagh, Lal Surendra Pratap Singh.

College authorities, however, have denied the charges and termed it a pressure tactic adopted by relatives of the girl. “Four children of their family study in our college and fees of all of them are pending. They created a scene to avoid depositing the money. Miscreants damaged our college furniture and tore the official records. We will lodge an FIR against them”, said a college official.
