Rape accused attempts suicide

Manali An accused, identified as Chanduram of Simsa village, wanted in case of abduction tried to commit suicide on Saturday. It may be recalled that on December 31st last the accused had allegedly abducted a minor girl. The police had launched a massive hunt to nab the accused, but had not been able to arrest him. It is learnt that yesterday the accused came to the orchard and tried to asked the girl to accompany him, but when she refused, the accused attempted suicide. On the information of the girl’s father, he was taken to a hospital in Manali by the police in an unconscious state. He is now reported to be out of danger. According to police sources, he would be arrested upon his discharge.
