Kasliwal was granted bail on April 18, 2006 by the Bombay High Court after a lower court rejected his plea twice on a condition that he will not come to Mumbai.
“Kasliwal appeared before the sessions court today for the framing of charges. The high court has relaxed his bail conditions for appearance in court,” said special public prosecutor, Avadhut Chimlakar. The next date of the hearing is on February 28 when the court will decide which documents will be admitted as evidence against Kasliwal.
The police had filed the chargesheet against Kasliwal after completing the investigation in June 2006. As per the chargesheet, three eyewitnesses who had seen the accused enter the mill with the woman on March 11, 2006, were cited in the chargesheet. The documents included in the chargesheet were the forensic reports, medical and chemical analysis reports of used condoms found in the car and reports of narco-analysis tests conducted on the accused in a Bangalore laboratory.
According to the police complaint lodged by the victim, Kasliwal had offered her a lift in his car in Colaba on the pretext of dropping her at Bombay Central station. Instead, he took her to the Shree Ram Mills compound and allegedly raped her.
