Rash driver kills girl, injures sister

Jalandhar, February 1 A girl was killed and her sister seriously injured in an accident near District Administrative Complex (DAC) today afternoon.

Stephie said her sisters, Afvan Bagha and Sujaan Bagha, were going on a two-wheeler and she was going with her friend. “The moment we came out of DAC, driver of a Tata-207, after hitting a car standing in front of him, crushed Afvan while reversing the vehicle and dragged Sujaan to about 2 kms, as her scooter clung to the vehicle and she kept shouting” she said. Eyewitnesses said Tata-207 was being driven rashly and many vehicles followed it but without luck. It was also learnt that the Tata-207 had hit three other vehicles near BMC Chowk. Sujaan was admitted to hospital with serious injuries, while the body of her sister has been sent for post-mortem.

SHO of the Police Division No. 4 Vibhor Kumar said the police have registered an FIR against the driver, Rajesh Kumar, of Basti Baba Khel, and two others. He said the driver, who was heavily drunk, was nabbed from Hoshiarpur, where he had injured four more persons.
