What’s it about? Just when you thought that Indian television was making more youth-oriented shows, your self-sacrificing female protagonist makes a comeback. Written by Purnendu Shekhar and produced by Sunjoy Wadhwa of Astitva, Balika Vadhu and Saat Phere fame, Jyoti is the story of a sober, but brave girl Jyoti Sharma, who hails from a middle-class family and has been working from the age of 16 with an orphanage in order to take care of her family’s financial needs. Being the oldest sibling, all the responsibilities come on to her and like most women on our small screen she willingly shoulders them with ease.

Should you be watching it? If you are a daily soap addict, then it is a great idea to watch this one because it is a tad better than watching scheming mothers-in-law or makeup-laden vamps mouthing dialogues in your living room. For those who enjoy surfing channels, we suggest you continue with thathobby.
