RCBC Open Tennis: Barvekar, Kalotra, Pandhare enter round two

Pune Aniket Barvekar, Yash Kalotra and Yash Pandhare scored tough wins over their respected opponents to enter the second round of the 16 th edition of the RCBC Open junior tennis championships being played on the club courts. In the tournament for players with less than 5 MSLTA points, Barvekar scored a 7-5 win over Raj Desai, while Gaurav Kalotra scored an identical win over Shaunak Kulkarni in the boy’s under 14 event. Yash Pandhare scored a close 7-6 (7-1) win over Anant Shah to also move into the second round in the boy’s under-12 event. In a close affair, Jai Deokar scored a 5-4(7-4) win over Aryan Wadhavekar in the Boys under 8 event.

Boys under-14 (1st round): Aniket Barvekar bt Raj Desai 7-5; Muder Noordin bt Rohan Chavan 6-4; Adeesh Rao bt Omkar Ladkat 6-4; Nihal oswal bt Sarosh Aga 6-4; Gaurav Kalotra bt Khistij Kotwal 7-5; Ishan Kale bt Hussein Chuniwalla 6-3.

Boys under-12 (1st Round):
Yash Pandhare bt Anant Shah 7-6 (7-1); Ranbir Chapekar bt Aditya Shastri 6-4; Shivraj Jadhav bt Shaunak Kulkarni 7-5; Neeraj Bhalerao bt Samit Ranade 6-4; Atharva Iyer bt Amit Bhide 6-4; Tarush Agarwal bt Vaibhav Agarwal 6-4.

Boys under 8 (1st Round):
Tanmay darda bt Varun Phatak 5-3; Jai deokar bt Aryan Wadhavekar 5-4(7-4); Eeshan Menkar bt Rutik shah 5-1.

Girls under 14 (1st round):
Anjali Aswani bt bt Mrunmai Kanitkar 6-1; Anushka Sharma bt Aishwarya Ranade 6-2.
