Reality show contestant from Rajasthan attacked in Andheri

Mumbai, January 7 The Andheri police are conducting an enquiry into the alleged assault on a contestant of a former reality singing contest on Sunday.

Toshi, 20, whose real name is Mohammad Sabri, was allgedly assaulted late on Sunday night by three unidentified men while he was on his way back after meeting his brother Sharib.

According to the police, the singer, who hails from Rajasthan, was waiting for an autorickshaw when he was attacked by three unidentified men with weapons, causing him severe injuries on head.

An anonymous caller informed Sharib about Toshi, who was lying injured on the roadside, say the police. Meanwhile, a woman who was accompanying Toshi rushed him to Nanavati hospital.

Dr Ashok Hatolkar, the medical superintendent of Nanavati Hospital, said, “Toshi was brought on Sunday night and was admitted for fractured skull bone. We conducted an operation on his skull and now his condition is stable. He has been shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU).”

Pradeep Suryavanshi, Senior Police Inspector of the Andheri police station, said, “As of now, we have no clue on the motive behind the attack. However, we are conducting an enquiry in the matter. We have also questioned the woman who was present at the time of the incident and brought Toshi to the hospital. Based on her descriptions, we are drawing sketches of the unidentified assailants. I cannot reveal more details at the moment.”

Toshi has also given a statement to the police.

When contacted, Sharib, Toshi’s brother, said, “I am not in a position to talk right now.”
