Sagar Studio, located on he outskirts of Vadodara city, will soon witness a buzz of different kind. NDTV Imagine, NDTV's new entertainment initiative will start an all-new Ramayan from January 21 onwards. The shooting for this will take place at the Sagar Studio. The tele serial is a joint initiative between NDTV Imagine and Sagar Arts, which had made Ramayana, the tele serial a household name in the eighties.

The latest version will have a new generation of actors, though the music will be composed by Ravindra Jain, who also composed for the earlier one. Samir Nair, the CEO of NDTV Imagine, said that the entire production is being executed in Vadodara and that the new version will have great technical advancements. "It’s a tale which is for every generation and we hope to re-tell it in a compelling and entertaining manner," he said. Nair further explained, "Ramayan connects with the audiences across the country and has all the elements that will deliver on our promise to entertain."

Prem Sagar said, "Twenty years ago, our father Ramanand Sagar created a revolution through a blockbuster show. Now, we as the second and third generation, hope to recreate the same magic." While two decades ago it was Arun Govil and Deepika Chikhaliya who essayed the role of Ram and Sita, the roles will now be played by Gurmeet Chowdhary as Ram and Debina Bannerjee as Sita.

Sparing no expenses, the extravagant sets have been designed by renowned art director Omang Kumar, while Kavita Krishnamurthy and Suresh Wadkar will sing the title track.
